REAL ID

Surely you’ve heard of the REAL ID by now, but if not, a REAL ID is a form of identification that meets federal standards for domestic air travel and access to federal facilities, such as military bases and certain federal buildings. The REAL ID Act was enacted to enhance security measures and establish minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and ID cards.

Unsure if you already have the REAL ID? Look for the star in the upper right corner! Though it’s not mandatory for everyone to have a REAL ID, if you want to use your state-issued driver’s license or ID card for domestic flights or to enter federal facilities after the deadline set by the federal government, you’ll need a REAL ID-compliant form of identification. The current deadline is May 7, 2025, so apply now!
